An interview with...
Rob Czar

Jay: Rob Czar is the male co-host of the popular NBC Saturday morning kids version of Junkyard/Scrapheap called Operation Junkyard. Rob, you got your start in Miami and have done a few pilots. You've even had a gig on the syndicated game show 'Street Smarts'. How did you get this job?

Rob: I had been walking throughout the desert for days on end. When almost like a mirage a junkyard appeared in the distance. Dehydrated and exhausted I was brought in by some really friendly british folk who gave me food, water and a tv show.

J: Aha. So, the old "audition" trick, eh? Why did you want to host this show?

R: 'Cause they told me I could have blue hair...and I thought to myself "well isn't that reason enough"

J: I see. The best part of the job...besides the blue hair?

R: Besides the case of redbull on set marked "for rob only" the best part for me is being on location, especially test days. Oh and the days they let us go into the junkyard and break stuff.

J: Breakin' stuph iz good. Since you mention "The Junkyard", have you met many of the people associated with the adult show?

R: Almost everyone that works on OP/JY works on JYW also so I see everyone all the time. Cathy and I were out in hollywood just the other weekend paintin the town red. Yeah Everyone at RDF rocks!

J: RDF does indeed rock. How about yourself...do you think you would excel at making something from nothing?

R: Depends...there were days when I walked in and they told me what we were building and I was like "that's cool I could build that" and then there were days where they told me and I wouldn't have even had the slightest clue where to begin. That's why I gotta give props to all of our contestants. Every team finished within the 6 hours and had working machines that made it into competition.

J: Has there ever been a mishap that caused the crew to either shut down a build or a test?

R: Lets just say there were once 13 episodes planned to air instead of 12.

J: Can you elaborate?

R: Sorry Charlie but there are some tales that will never leave the junkyard.

J: Have you considered a position in politics? Anyway, can you tell us if there will be a second series of OP/JY?

R: I sure hope so...the ratings are high and the response has been nothing but incredible. Our fans rock!

J: Any advice for those rockin' fans who might be considering pursuing a career in show business?

R: I'd say for the most part Its all about who you know & also attitude is everything!

J: Sage advice. One more before I let you go Rob...What do you like to do in your downtime?

R: Hmmm downtime...lets see, lots of time spent writing music, painting, makin ninja movies, gettin off at random stops on the subway, oh yeah and lots of cartoon network

J: Rob, it's been a pleasure. Thank you for taking the time to do this interview.
