This is the one episode that the Raging Racers (Ice Drag Racer, Pie Filling Machine) and the Scrapheap Henchman (Water Bike, Mud Scooter) have been waiting for all series long. The teams will be building a boat that they can sail across a tank of water toward the enemy's flag ship (a plastic model of a destroyer, painted in the opposing teams color). Their ship must be able to sink the enemy ship, filled with bullion, before the other team can do the same. A whole bunch of prizes go to the winning team. Oh yeah, to mark this special occasion, the teams will be building their creations on the deck of the air craft carrier USNC Nimitz.
The teams will be given engines to power
the boat and the R/C units to drive them. They are also given servo motors.
A servo is a tiny motor that can be used to turn on a switch to run a bigger
motor (or move a small part on it's own). Also, both teams are given 15
minutes engineering time (no bodgit game). The dimensions of the boat can
be no more than 3 feet long and one-and-a-half feet wide.
Both teams are building non-navy approved
catamarans. A catamaran is a boat with 2 parallel hulls and a deck connecting
them in the middle and the engine in the stern. The plus side is that the
deck in the middle will givem them a large surface to attach weapons too.
The minus side is that they will need to get the balances (side to side
and front and back) just right or the boat will tip over.
